Following the shortage of busses making the remaining few to hike transport fare to Lira up to shs 120,000, Lira City’s mayor Sam Atul and Lira RCC Lawrence Egole are making efforts to send buses to collect passengers returning to Lira.
So far, 4 buses have been dispatched and are expected to be arriving in Kampala at 3 pm. The two leaders have already contacted the Kampala RCC to ensure cooperation.
Meanwhile, negotiations are being made with the bus owners to charge normal transport rates.
There is a contact person registering travellers to Lira at Namayiba Bus Park who has so far registered close to 300 persons intending to make their journeys home.
