Police in Kampala through Directorate of Crime Intelligence has rescued a four-year-old child who was kidnapped on the 2nd August 2021 from Wamala area in Nansana Municipality.
The child who has been identified as Simon Ssenyonjo was kidnapped while playing out side at his mother’s workplace.
As the suspects were left behind evidence, the police followed up the lead and found that the suspects had demanded for a ransom to a tune of Shs50 million from Mudiima Kityo, the father of the victim but Kityo could only raise Shs 1m and deposited on the suspects’ phone number.
The suspects who are identified as Katongole Hakim, Mawanda James and Asiimwe Anna Maria from Busabala B village, Makindye Division, were arrested and victim rescued and handed over to the parents on Thursday.

According to Asp Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO, Kampala Metropolitan police, a motorcycle of registration number, UFH 412 D, which the suspects allegedly used to transport the victim to their hide out was also recovered.
The suspects will be arraigned in courts of law on allegations of kidnap.
