Lira city unites for Jesus on Good Friday
Today being good Friday, as the Christians traditions consider it to be the day of commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ, the Messiah of the world on the cross about 2000 years ago, Christian churches in Lira City units for the way of the cross prayers on the streets.
The churches that recognizes this day are Catholic, Anglican and orthodox churches.

Usually these churches used to join together for the way of the cross but this time, Lango diocese (Anglican) decided to be off the congregation leaving Lira diocese and orthodox on their own way.
While it was a long journey of about 15 kilometers, thousands of Christians joined from different points with the starting point being at Cathedral triangle at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral in Lira city leading through the junction of Lira main prisons and lira regional referral hospital as the first station to Corner Kamdini in Teso bar for the second station. The third station was at the junction of Kirombe while the fourth and fifth station was at the junction of CHOGM garden, and Junction from junior quarters to Lango college road respectively. The sixth station was at Cuk opeke along Lango college road.
Leading through Kampala road to Odokomit round about for other station, different Christians kept on joining on the way as the prayers went through leading through Juba road to Uhuru bar and Obote avenue to Police road about to the ordination ground for the last station which is the fifteenth station where Jesus Christ resurrected according to the catholic tradition of way of the cross prayers.
The prayer was led His worship, Sanctus Linos Wanok, the bishop of Lira diocese, and different religious priest, sisters, catechists, politicians, civil servants and the general christian community.
