Beloved Artist and Producer Lolo Sam Passes Away in Lira City
LIRA CITY, UGANDA — The Northern Ugandan music and faith communities are in deep shock and mourning following the sudden passing of popular gospel artist and sound producer Sam Lolo, widely known his stage name Lolo Sam.
Lolo Sam was found dead in a suspected suicide inside his recording hub, Sunrise Studio, located in Bar Ogole, Lira City West Division. His body was subsequently moved local authorities to the Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) mortuary for a postmortem examination.
A Cornerstone of Northern Uganda’s Gospel Music
Lolo Sam was a prominent figure in Northern Uganda’s gospel music industry. Beyond ministering as an artist, he played a crucial role behind the scenes as a music producer, sound engineer, and promoter, helping elevate local gospel talent through Sunrise Studio in Lira.

As news of his passing spread across social media platforms, fellow gospel ministers, music producers, and fans expressed sadness and disbelief. Many described Lolo Sam as a dedicated servant whose music gave hope and encouragement to thousands in the Lango sub-region and across Uganda.
Local law enforcement in Lira has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
