While traveling from the central Uganda to Lira, most of the journies starts from Kampala and here we take kampala to be your first destination, there are two routes you can take to reach Lira, you can take the eastern route about 7-8 hrs via Jinja, Mbale to Soroti and finally Lira City or you can take the Western route about 5-6 hrs via Luwero, Nakasongola, Kiryandongo, Karuma to Lira. All buses leaves from Namayiba Bus Terminal or YY Bus terminal depending on your choice although taxis can also be got. The charges for the Western route is 30,000/= regular and 40,000/= Executive while the eastern route cost 35,000/= t0 45,000/= depending on the Bus company.

Depending on the class of Hotel you want to spend your night at, accomodation ranges from as low as 20,000/= for the common guest houses to 300,000/= for the 3 Star hotels per night. Most accomodation facilities provides tight security, parking space and free WiFi.
