Oyam North constituency Member of parliament who doubles as the State Minister for Labour, Charles Engola has been shot dead his bodyguard.
The incident happened in Kyanja on Tuesday morning(2nd May 2023). The UPDF bodyguard also turned the gun onto himself.
The Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the incident.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among confirmed the incident to the house that is sitting today.
“This morning, I received sad news that Hon Engola has been shot his bodyguard and after, shot himself. May his soul rest in peace. That was God’s plan. We can’t change anything,” Ms Among said.
The scene of crime has been cordoned off security personnel.
